Quicken Loans Arena Transformation Project On Schedule

On Jan. 16, a ceremonial topping off ceremony was held to commemorate the last piece of structural steel installed on the project to modernize the 25-year old publicly-owned Quicken Loans Arena.

With a tight timeline to complete the entire Q Transformation Project before the beginning of the 2019-2020 NBA season, it was vital to get the final piece of structural steel in place and keep the project on schedule.

According to a statement on the project’s website, as of December 2018, the project created 1,457 construction jobs, including jobs for electricians and electrical workers, who have clocked a collective 173,868 hours on the jobsite.

Electricians Work contractors are proud to be working on such an important and high profile project that will benefit the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and their residents.

As the Cavaliers season winds down, workers are busy working on the exterior portion of the project, which includes some electrical work.

Upon conclusion of the Monster’s hockey season and the May 4 New Kids on the Block concert, whichever occurs later, the arena will be shut down to the public so interior work on the final phase can take place.

When the project gears back up for the final phase of interior work, just over 200 highly trained and highly skilled electrical workers, who work for an Electricians Work contractor, will be on the job at “The Q.”

The region’s top electricians and electrical workers will ply their trade, as this project requires all workers to work as quickly and efficient as possible in order to meet the tight completion deadline.

The newly renovated arena will re-open for the start of the Cavaliers, Monsters and entertainment season in October 2019.

Electricians Work Called Upon to Transform Q on Tight Timeline

The deal to renovate Quicken Loans Arena is generating quality construction jobs, including jobs for electrical workers who work for Electricians Work contractors.

The renovation project is expected to create 200 construction jobs, including jobs for highly trained and highly skilled electrical workers, who work for an Electricians Work contractor.

Only the region’s highly skilled and highly trained electrical workers will perform the electrical work on this project. The Cavaliers trust them to perform quality work and get it finished on a tight construction timeline.

Initially, the team withdrew plans for The Q Transformation Project from the city in 2017 shortly after a community group attempted to put The Q renovation finance deal on the ballot as a referendum issue.

The City of Cleveland went to court over the issue, and the Ohio Supreme Court ruled the initiative was valid and had to go before voters.

Following the court ruling, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert withdrew from the deal on Aug. 29, claiming the referendum delay would cost the team extra money due to the delayed construction start. Just two days after the Cavs ended the deal, on Aug. 31, the community group requested to withdraw their petition referendum. After this development, the team decided to go-ahead with the project.

Upgrade work at the arena will include a new glass exterior, alleviating crowded concourses and creating pre- and post-event space for visitors.
